When it comes to Jasprit Bumrah‘s health, Indian cricket is constantly on the verge of collapse. Bumrah was removed from the series on the eve of the first game in Guwahati, six days after the selectors had added him to the ODI squad for the home series against Sri Lanka.
He was scheduled to make his comeback during this series after being out with a back issue since last September. Bumrah sustained an injury following the England tour in July of last year, and playing two T20 Internationals against Australia in September delayed his recovery.
According to TOI, BCCI made an exception by letting Bumrah choose his comeback match despite their decision to be extremely cautious with him.
“The planned three-match ODI series versus Sri Lanka without Bumrah has been postponed. Bumrah will need additional time to develop his bowling endurance. He was supposed to join the team in Guwahati before the ODI series. This choice has been made out of an abundance of caution, “In a statement on Monday, BCCI stated.
It’s been reported that the board has been in touch with Bumrah frequently and has assured him that he won’t be rushed like before the T20 World Cup. “Bumrah is the best judge of it because it is his body. Although he was named to the team, he was never forced to play in this series. He must determine if he is fully prepared to play at full strength in a competitive international game “said a BCCI source.
“The poor man has put in a lot of effort at the NCA. He just noticed tightness in his back. Bumrah must be dragged outside if he complains of feeling unwell. Bumrah requires additional caution from us “India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma made the statement on Monday in Guwahati.
According to sources, the board, team management, and selectors don’t care if Bumrah doesn’t play all year long since they want him to be healthy for important games.
“Currently, he has been informed that the team will require him for the home Test series against Australia starting next month. He must get ready for at least three Test matches against Australia, the World Test Championship Final in June if India advances, and the ODI World Cup in India in October and November of this year. A couple ODI games before to the World Cup will also do “added the insider.
Players who want to be available for Team India must first play domestic cricket, according to a recent BCCI announcement. “The one exception is Bumrah. He is an excessively skilled bowler and doesn’t take long to get going. His adversaries are always on the alert. He will only be played if he has complete confidence in himself “Added the source.
