by flasharticle

Tripura is led by the BJP, with the local party Tipramotha contesting. The BJP and its ally IPFT (Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura) had maintained a lead in the early rounds besides the challenges in Tripura elections. At about 10 a.m., the BJP and IPFT led in 32 seats. The combination of the Congress and Left parties has a 17-seat majority.

Tipramotha, another local party, is leading in 12 seats, posing a serious challenge to the BJP-Left coalition. Tipramotha, led by Tripura royal family member Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, has yet to form pre-poll coalitions with either the BJP or the Congress alliance. It had previously said it would back any party that supported its quest for a ‘Greater Tipraland’ state.
