Ruturaj Gaikwad has the 42-run world record for runs scored in a single over. Elton Chigumbura of Zimbabwe previously held the record, scoring 39 runs in a Dhaka Premier Division game in 2013.
As part of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, Ruturaj Gaikwad set a world record on Monday (November 28) by scoring seven consecutive sixes and 43 runs in a single over against Uttar Pradesh.
The record was set on Monday during the quarterfinal game at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad by Maharashtra captain Gaikwad. The bowler that let seven sixes during the 49th over was Shiva Singh. Gaikwad smacked a six on a no-ball, which was one of the balls in the over.
Based on his innings, Maharashtra amassed 330 runs for five wickets in 50 overs. Gaikwad smashed 220 runs off 159 balls, including 16 sixes and 10 fours, to add to Maharashtra’s total.
